Canadian Work Permits provide the gateway to an enriching professional journey in one of the world’s most dynamic job markets. They serve as legal authorization for foreign nationals to engage in employment across the breadth of Canada’s diverse provinces and industries.

Two key options for obtaining these permits include the International Experience Class and the Reciprocal Employment Visa.

Work in Canada under the International Experience Class

One option to improve your CRS points, would be to come and work in Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (“IRCC”) may allow you to work in Canada, depending your ability to qualify for an open work permit under the International Experience Class (“IEC”).  Further details can be found at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/eligibility.asp

If you obtain an IEC work permit and work in Canada for one year, in a paid full-time skilled, managerial, executive role, you may be eligible for an additional 35-40 points.

Work in Canada under the Reciprocal Employment Visa

One option to improve your CRS points, would be to come and work in Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (“IRCC”) may allow you to work in Canada, depending your ability to qualify for an open work permit under the Reciprocal Employment Visa (“REV”). 

In order to qualify, you would need to show the following:

  • You have a long history of playing sports in your home country;
  • You have won accolades/awards or have an outstanding career in sports;
  • You have a potential job offer from a sports club in Canada, that is in the same genre as the sport you play at home;
  • That there are reciprocal opportunities in XXXX; and
  • You have applied for the visa at a Canadian Visa Post abroad.

Please note that this list is NOT exhaustive and may require more or less documents depending on the individual’s circumstances.

If you obtain an REV work permit and work in Canada for one year, you may be eligible for an additional 35-90 CRS points.

Francophone Mobility

Another option to improve your CRS points, would be to come and work in Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (“IRCC”) may allow you to work in Canada, depending your ability to qualify for a work permit under the Francophone Mobility (“FM”).  Further details can be found at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/hire-foreign-worker/french-speaking-bilingual-workers-outside-quebec.html

If you obtain an FM work permit and work in Canada for one year, in a paid full-time skilled, managerial, executive role, you may be eligible for an additional 35-40 points.
